A Bright Spot in Winter

I just pieced and laid out the blocks for a new quilt top- my first of 2009! I was inspired by the current issue of American Patchwork & Quilting cover quilt, and interpreted it with my favorite colors instead of the reproduction shirtings shown. I am excited- I love the way the brights glow against the dark blue. This is a color scheme I would like to also explore in a star quilt and in a version of the rail fence I did as my first quilt.

Other projects in the works include quilting & binding my Kaffe inspired tile quilt, ripping out and re-quilting my Strip Twist, and making a baby quilt for my daughter's teacher who is due in March. Her class is studying marine life this year, so I am going to have the kids draw sea creatures on white squares and border them with the Brackish Giant Octopus Heather Ross Mendocino fabric and coordinating solids. It should be grand!
