I finished the red I Spy quilt with a machine binding last night- I've been seeing a lot of machine bound quilts from very prolific quilters on Flickr, and thought I would give it a try. It actually went better than I thought- the finished look isn't as nice as a hand bound quilt, but it takes 45 minutes instead of 4-6 hours to put on, so that's a major benefit!
I tied it with golden yellow embroidery floss and used a similar color thread on the binding. I like the pop of the contrasting thread- it's reminiscent of old work quilts and some of Freddy & Gwen's tied quilts from Freddy & Gwen Collaborate Again, which is a big source of inspiration lately.
Now, just a few more tops to quilt...
Love the colour combo!
